Where to Get Help

Victims of sexual abuse or misconduct can get assistance by calling the Lafayette Diocese's toll-free hotline, 1-800-533-7018. Misconduct by priests, other employees or volunteers of the diocese can be reported through that number. Counseling from therapists is available.

Victims also may call the bishop's office for help, or to inquire about scheduled prayer or healing services conducted by the bishop. That number is 1-800-942-2397.

A national advocacy group also offers assistance. Survivors Network of those Abused by Priests (SNAP) is headquartered in Chicago at 312-483-1059.

By law, anyone who has reason to believe a child has been abused must report it to local police or any county office of Child Protective Services.
