Seminarian Alleges Priest Fondled Him

Chicago - The pastor of St. Mark's Parish on the West Side has been charged with one count of misdemeanor criminal sexual abuse for allegedly fondling an adult seminarian, police said Friday.

Thursday, police arrested Rev. Domingo Hurtado-Badillo, 38, who has been placed on temporary leave until the matter is resolved. He was released on a personal recognizance bond, police said.

Police said a 21-year-old seminarian told authorities Thursday that the priest had fondled him through his clothing in an effort to coerce him to have sex Oct. 30.

James Dwyer, spokesman for the Catholic Archdiocese of Chicago, said Hurtado-Badillo was ordained in May 1993 and has been at St. Mark's, 1048 N. Campbell Ave., since November 1996. Dwyer said church officials had not previously had a complaint about the priest.
