[September 2005 ?]

The Holy See has notified Cardinal Justin Rigali that Nicholas V. Cudemo was dismissed from the clerical state by the Holy Father. The action was taken in response to a finding of misconduct involving minors. Nicholas Cudemo functioned as a priest of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia from June 1963 to May 1996, during which time he served in the following parishes/schools:

- Saint Stanislaus, Lansdale;
- Saint John Neumann High School, Philadelphia;
- Archbishop Kennedy High School, Conshohocken;
- Cardinal Dougherty High School, Philadelphia;
- Saint Mary Magdalen De Pazzi, Philadelphia;
- Saint Irenaeus, Philadelphia;
- Epiphany of Our Lord, Philadelphia;
- King of Peace, Philadelphia;
- Saint Callistus, Philadelphia; and
- Our Lady of Angels, Philadelphia.

While in the education apostolate Nicholas Cudemo lived at the following parishes:

- Saint Paul, Philadelphia;
- Saints Cosmas and Damian, Conshohocken;
- Saint Helena, Center Square; and
- Saint Titus, Norristown.

Removal from the clerical state means that in accord with canon law, these priests are no longer incardinated in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia, and are unable to function as priests anywhere.
We encourage anyone who wishes to make a report of sexual abuse of a minor to call the Victims Assistance Coordinators at 215-587-3880.
