Archdiocese of Philadelphia
[June 2005 ?]

http://www.archdiocese-phl.org/protection/Updates/note_jones.htm

The Holy See has notified Cardinal Justin Rigali that the request of Richard G. Jones to be removed from the clerical state has been granted.

In response to a credible accusation of misconduct involving a minor, Richard Jones was removed from active ministry in 1988. Subsequently, Richard Jones sought removal from the clerical state.

Richard Jones functioned as a priest of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia from June 1963 to October 1988, during which time he served in the following parishes/school:

- Saint Joseph, Spring City;
- Our Lady of Grace, Penndel;
- Saint Martin of Tours, New Hope;
- Cardinal O'Hara High School, Springfield;
- Resurrection of Our Lord, Chester;
- Saint Thomas the Apostle, Chester Heights;
- Saint Mary Magdalen, Media.

While in the education apostolate Richard Jones lived at the following parishes: Immaculate Conception (Front Street), Philadelphia and the Convent Our Lady of Angels..

Removal from the clerical state means that in accord with canon law, these priests are no longer incardinated in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia, and are unable to function as priests anywhere.
We encourage anyone who wishes to make a report of sexual abuse of a minor to call the Victims Assistance Coordinators at 215-587-3880.
