Laicization Update
Francis X. Trauger

Archdiocese of Philadelphia
[June 2005 ?]

http://www.archdiocese-phl.org/protection/Updates/note_trauger.htm

The Holy See has notified Cardinal Justin Rigali that the request of Francis X. Trauger to be removed from the clerical state has been granted.

In response to a credible accusation of misconduct involving a minor, Francis Trauger was removed from active ministry in 2003. Subsequently, Francis Trauger sought removal from the clerical state.

Francis Trauger functioned as a priest of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia from June 1972 to December 2003, during which time he served in the following parishes:

- Saint Leo, Philadelphia;
- Holy Cross, Springfield;
- Saint Titus, Norristown;
- Saint Matthew, Philadelphia;
- Saint Francis de Sales, Philadelphia;
- Saint Matthew, Conshohocken;
- Annunciation, B.V.M., Philadelphia;
- Saint Joseph, Aston;
- Saint Michael the Archangel, Levittown.

Francis Trauger also served as chaplain at Saint Hubert High School, Philadelphia.

Removal from the clerical state means that in accord with canon law, these priests are no longer incardinated in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia, and are unable to function as priests anywhere.
We encourage anyone who wishes to make a report of sexual abuse of a minor to call the Victims Assistance Coordinators at 215-587-3880.
