Laicization Update
James J. Brzyski

Archdiocese of Philadelphia
[June 2005 ?]

http://www.archdiocese-phl.org/protection/Updates/note_brzyski.htm

The Holy See has notified Cardinal Justin Rigali that James J. Brzyski was dismissed from the clerical state by the Holy Father. The action was taken in response to a finding of misconduct involving minors. James Brzyski functioned as a priest of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia from June 1977 to August 1984, during which time he served in the following parishes:

- Saint John the Evangelist, Morrisville;
- Saint Cecilia, Philadelphia.

Removal from the clerical state means that in accord with canon law, these priests are no longer incardinated in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia, and are unable to function as priests anywhere. We encourage anyone who wishes to make a report of sexual abuse of a minor to call the Victims Assistance Coordinators at 215-587-3880.
