Two new priests recently joined the ranks of the clergy of the Diocese of St. Augustine.

Bishop Paul Tanner ordained Father David McCreanor, May 24, at Christ the King C h u r c h, Jacksonville, and Father Thomas Moore, Aug. 20 at Naval Aviation Chapel, NAS, Pensacola.

Father Moore Father Moore, formerly a naval aviator, attended De La Salle, Newport, Rhode Island, and A r c h b i s h o p Carroll High, Washington, D.C. He received his bachelor's degree from Stonehill College, North Easton, Mass. He earned his Navy wings in 1969, pinned on by Captain F. T. Moore, his father, now deceased. Father Moore was instructor of the year in 1970 at Saufley Field, Pensacola.

After naval service he studied for the priesthood at Pope John XXIII Seminary, Weston, Mass., and completed his theological studies at the Catholic University of America, Washington, D.C.

He has been assigned assistant pastor of San Jose Parish, J a c k s o n v i l l e , and teacher of religion at Bishop Kenny High School.

Father McCreanor Father McCreanor is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Patrick McCreanor of St. Ardee, County Louth, Ireland.


His primary and secondary education was under the De La Salle Brothers in Waterford, I r e l a n d . He received his bachelor's degree f r om University College, Dublin. He was accepted as a member of the British Psychologocal Society.

Father McCreanor studied theology at All Hallows College, Dublin, and the Pontifical College of Maynooth.

He spent a year as a deacon in service at Christ the King Parish, Jacksonville, and completed his studies at St. Vincent de Paul Seminary in Boynton Beach, Fla. Father McCreanor has been assigned assistant pastor of St. Mary's Parish, Fort Walton Beach.
