Brother Benjamin Trautman

Funeral Mass for Brother Benjamin A. Trautman, 83, will be at 3 p.m. today at the Jesuit House Chapel. Burial will be at the Mount St. Michael Cemetery. Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Brother Trautman, who was born in Shelby, Mont., died Monday.

He entered the Novitiate of Oregon Province at Sheridan in 1934.

Brother Trautman remained in Sheridan until 1944, when he moved to Spokane. He pronounced his last vows at Mount St. Michael in 1946.

He worked at Mount St. Michael from 1944 until 1952, at St. Mary's Mission from 1961 until 1965, and as a custodian at the Jesuit Novitiate from 1965 until 1968.

Brother Trautman began working at the Bea House community at Gonzaga in 1968 and had been a member of the Gonzaga University Jesuit community since.

Survivors include a sister, Angela Bernard Trautman of St. Paul, Minn.; and numerous cousins.
