A Kenyan priest accused of sexually abusing a 12-year-old boy this month during a trip to Rockaway Beach was ordered held yesterday on $50,000 bail and told to surrender his passport.

The Rev. Peter Kiarie, 41, faces two years in prison if convicted of the charges: five counts of sexual abuse and forcible touching, and one count of endangering the welfare of a child.

Prosecutor Ken Appelbaum, who argued for $75,000 bail, said the victim is "very capable, very articulate and very credible."

Cops arrested Kiarie, who is visiting a church in Sunnyside Gardens, on Tuesday and accused him of groping and fondling the boy while on a beach trip June 16.

Defense attorney Michael Gaffey said a victim in "a crowded beach, at a crowded restaurant or a crowded bus" should have been able to stop the abuse. "A 12-year-old should be able to shout," he told the judge.
