Rapid City Priest Denies Sex Abuse Accusation

The bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Rapid City says a priest who served in western South Dakota sexually abused a minor.

Bishop Blase Cupich says the allegation against Reverend Gilbert Stack is credible. He says the abuse happened during Stack's service in Sturgis from 1946 to 1956. The bishop says others might have been hurt and he wants them to call the diocese.

Stack is retired and lives in Missouri. He denies the allegations and hasn't had the chance to confront the person making the accusations.

Stack also served in the Rapid City diocese from 1957 to 1992 at the Shrine of the Nativity of Bethlehem Cave near Piedmont.
