  A Chronology of the Case of Father Anthony Jablonowski

April 27, 2004

-April 11, 2003: Diocese of Cheyenne receives allegation of secret bondage rituals that had occurred in the 1980s at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Guernsey where Father Anthony Jablonowski was pastor.

-April 16, 2003: Diocese sends report detailing allegations to Platte County Attorney Eric Alden.

-April 21, 2003: Alden asks state Division of Criminal Investigation to look into the report.

-June 2003: Notice published in Wyoming Catholic Register in which Bishop David Ricken states he was saddened to learn that a former priest of the diocese engaged in unacceptable and abusive "penitential practices." He urges anyone who felt they were harmed by Jablonowski to contact the diocese.

-June 18, 2003: DCI launches extensive investigation into rituals, which allegedly involved seven men.

-July 9, 2003: A man tells the diocese he was molested at age 17 by Jablonowski in 1982 at the rectory. The diocese notifies DCI that day, and an agent interviews the man. The investigation of Jablonowski continues for several more months.

-March 2004: Alden files criminal charge that Jablonowski took immodest, immoral or indecent liberties with a child.

An agreement is reached in which Jablonowski will enter a plea to the charge in exchange for felonious restraint, battery and third-degree sexual assault charges not being filed related to the rituals.

Jablonowski, who had been living at a monastery in Waterford, Ohio, agrees to turn himself in.

-April 15, 2004: Jablonowski, 67, enters no contest plea to indecent liberties and is sentenced to 15 months to seven years in prison.
