Fr. Ray Boulanger, s.m. Served at Notre Dame High School from 1957-1975.

FRAMINGHAM – Reverend Raymond A. Boulanger, SM, age 88, an Ordained Priest with the Marist Fathers in Framingham, died Friday, February 12, 2010 at St. Patrick Manor in Framingham. Born and raised in Haverhill, he was the son of the late Napoleon J. and Olina (Gauthier) Boulanger. His first profession into the Society of Mary came September 8, 1945. He completed his theological studies at the Marist Seminary, Framingham. He was ordained on February 2, 1951. Rev. Boulanger earned his Masters degree in Sociology from Boston College in 1956. After his ordination, Rev. Boulanger taught at Maryvale Seminary in Bedford and Van Buren High School in Van Buren, ME until 1957. In 1957 he moved to Michigan where he taught at Notre Dame High School in Harper Woods, MI. In 1968 while missioned in Michigan, Rev. Boulanger was hired by the City of Detroit to work in the areas affected by the riots and was then hired by the City of East Detroit to teach social issues as a curriculum course in the Adult Education school program. From 1971-1975 he served the Queen of Peace Parish in Harper Woods, MI. Rev. Boulanger was Pastor, Superior and Treasurer of Mt. Carmel Parish in Methuen from 1976-1979. In 1979 he was missioned at St. John Baptist Parish in Brunswick, ME as the Parochial Vicar. While in Maine he was an Associate with the Portland Diocesan Human Relations Services (DHRS) District#3 Advisory Board from 1980-1985; a member of the Diocesan Executive Board and a member of the Personnel Committee for 3 years. He was also the Chaplain at the Regional Hospital from 1986-1992. In 1992 he moved to St. Louis Parish in Lowell where he was Parochial Vicar until 1994. In 1994 he reached Senior Religious status where he was assigned to the Marist House in Framingham. Rev. Boulanger is survived by his nieces Bonnie Boulanger, Claudette Chevalier and nephew Gerard Bourdon both of Haverhill. He was the brother of the late Norman Boulanger and Gloria Bourdon. His body will lie in state in Our Lady of Mercy Chapel at Marist House, 518 Pleasant St., Framingham on Thursday, February 18, 2010, from 8:30 AM to 10:15 AM. His funeral Mass will follow at 10:30 AM in the Chapel. Burial will take place at 2 PM in the Marist Father's lot in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Haverhill. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Norton Funeral Home, 53 Beech St., Framingham (www.nortonfuneralhome.com). In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Marist Fathers Senior Religious Fund, 518 Pleasant St., Framingham, MA 01701.
