Fr. Oliver Walsh was born in the town of Tubbercurry (the more common spelling) (or also Tobercurry; in Irish: Tobar an Choire, meaning "well of the corrie"). Tubbercurry is the second-largest town in terms of both population and land area in County Sligo, Ireland. It lies at the foot of the Ox Mountains, on the N17 national primary road. Fr. Walsh was a priest of the diocese of Joliet, Illinois.
