Judge Dismisses 5 Suits against Milwaukee Archdiocese
Alleged Victims Say They Were Molested by Late Rev. George Nuedling

March 11, 2003

MILWAUKEE -- A Milwaukee County judge dismissed lawsuits brought by five men who claimed the Milwaukee Archdiocese protected a priest who molested them.

Because the alleged abuse took place in the 1960s and 1970s, Judge Michael Goulee ruled the statute of limitations had expired.

The alleged victims plan to appeal to the state Supreme Court. They also plan to work to change the statute that limits their cases.

All five said they were abused by the late Rev. George Nuedling when they ranged in age from nine to 14.

According to current state law, the deadline for filing their lawsuits would be sometime in the late 1970s.
