Church Asks Judge to Dismiss Abuse Case

The Roman Catholic Diocese of Davenport says it's not responsible for warning parishoners about priests who abuse children.

The Diocese made the claims in a motion to dismiss one of the 14 lawsuits pending against it.

Lawyers for the Diocese say a negligence claim should be dismissed because state law doesn't require churches to notify parishoners about a priest's past misconduct.

A judge will hear both sides in a hearing June third.
