  Ten Parishes to Close in Lawrence, Lowell

BOSTON - The Archdiocese of Boston will close six of 13 parishes in Lowell and four of seven parishes in Lawrence.

Today's announcement brings to 82 the number of churches slated to close this year.

Word of the closings come in this week's issue of The Pilot -- the weekly newspaper of the Archdiocese.

The closings in Lowell include:

St. Louis de France, St. Jeanne d'Arc, Nuestra Senora del Carmen, Holy Trinity, Notre Dame de Lourdes and Sacred Heart parishes.

In Lawrence -- St. Mary/Immaculate Conception will merge with Asuncion de la Virgen Maria. Holy Rosary, Holy Trinity and Saints Peter and Paul parishes will form a new parish at Holy Rosary. The Holy Trinity church building will serve as a worship site for Holy Trinity School, which is also remaining open.
