(AP) CHICAGO A man who alleges he was sexually abused by a Catholic priest as a boy in the northern Illinois community of Woodstock has filed a lawsuit today.

Andrew Howell claims he began to remember two years ago that he was sexually abused in the 1970s by William Joffe at a Catholic school he attended.

Joffe was removed from the priesthood in the 1990s after a separate allegation of sexual abuse. Since then, at least seven people have reported to the Rockford Catholic Diocese that they were molested as minors.

The diocese attorney wouldn't comment on the lawsuit today because she's named in the lawsuit. She says the diocese will issue a statement later today or tomorrow.

Howell's attorney says Joffe now lives in Florida. He couldn't be reached for comment today.
