A PRIEST has been suspended from his ecclesiastical duties after several women levied charges against him for 'behaving outside of his duties', according to yesterday's Phileleftheros.

After receiving allegations of the misconduct by the priest, the police then forwarded the allegations in writing to the head of the Holy Synod and the active head of the Cyprus Church, Paphos Bishop Chrysostomos. The Paphos Bishop then temporarily withdrew the priest from his duties so that the case could be investigated.

The Bishop of Paphos told the Cyprus Mail yesterday that he could not comment on the case as they had just begun investigating the allegations.

"We will discuss it on the next Holy Synod meeting on the 13th of this month and I hope that by then we will have a complete packet [of evidence] on the material."
