Accused Teacher Reportedly Tries to Kill Self

The retired Blacksburg teacher facing sex charges apparently tried to kill himself Friday morning. According to Cincinnati television station WCPO, Jonathan Utin appeared in court in Middletown, Ohio with a large bandage on his head.

According to the station, police say Utin tried to commit suicide by jumping off a sink in his cell, and purposely hitting his head on a metal bed post.

Utin is scheduled to appear in court again on September 28th, for a pre-trial hearing.

Meanwhile, police in Blacksburg say they've talked to mutliple alleged local victims. Investigators don't expect to file any local charges for about a week, but they are asking anyone who may have been a victim or may know about potential incidents to contact them.
