A former vicar and an ex-teacher were jailed yesterday after a huge stash of child porn was found in a secret vault.

Grey-haired Michael Studdert and Thomas O'Carroll kept an Aladdin's Cave of filth behind a bathroom wall. The only way into it was by turning an innocent-looking coat-hook.

Their sick "library" - dating back 50 years - was found after a huge undercover police operation.

The concealed compartment was opened accidentally as an officer twiddled with the hook.

Suddenly the vault opened, revealing nearly 50,000 magazines, videos, slides and photos.

Some showed boys as young as six being raped and tortured.

Studdert, 67 - a millionaire after receiving an inheritance - stored the porn at his sprawling mansion in Hindhead, Surrey. He had earlier pleaded guilty to 26 charges of possession, making and distribution of indecent images of children.

Both he and O'Carroll, 61, have previous similar convictions, Middlesex crown court was told.

Studdert, a former school chaplain whose father was Archdeacon of Surrey, was jailed for four years. Former teacher and journalist O'Carroll, from Leamington Spa, Warks, got two and a half years. He admitted three charges of possession, making and distribution of indecent images.

Det Chief Inspector Neil Thompson said he was "delighted" with the sentences. He added: "Both are lifelong predatory paedophiles and a danger to children. "
