Davenport (AP) - The Roman Catholic Diocese of Davenport and a creditors committee in its bankruptcy case have asked for more time for people to file claims.

The diocese filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy last fall as protection against allegations of sexual abuse by its priests.

The dioceses and the committee want the current deadline of February 6th extended to mid-July to provide more time to find others who claim they were sexually abused.

They also asked that the deadline for the diocese to file its plan to emerge from bankruptcy before moved from February 10th to mid-August.
