Father George Chaanine is in FBI custody. He was picked up in Apache Junction, Arizona near Phoenix Thursday afternoon.

Reports indicate, police chased Chaanine's cream colored Buick for about half an hour before making the arrest.

Police in Monterey, California say someone spotted Chaanine's car at a Bank of America two days ago.

Chaanine was tracked nearly 700 miles to Apache Junction. Global positioning satellites played a role in his capture.

It is likely, an onboard system was used to pinpoint his location so he could be stopped and taken into custody.

The 52 year old has been the center of a nationwide manhunt for almost a week. He is accused of beating a woman with a wine bottle and trying to sexually assault her at Our Lady of Las Vegas Church.

Las Vegas Police had a warrant out for his arrest with seven felony charges ranging from kidnapping to sexual assault.

Chaanine is now in a Phoenix jail where he will await extradition back to Nevada.
