The dean of students at St. Vincent de Paul High School was dismissed Monday because of alleged inappropriate behavior with a student, the Roman Catholic Diocese of Santa Rosa confirmed today.

Diocese spokeswoman Deirdre Frontczak and the Catholic high school's principal John Walker said dean Jeff Dvorak was at the school two years.

Frontczak said the student was at least 18 years old and Petaluma police "determined whatever occurred was consensual."

"It may have been inappropriate but it was not a crime," Frontczak said.

Petaluma police Capt. Dave Sears did not immediately return a call for comment this afternoon.

Walker also said Petaluma police investigated the incident and found no criminal behavior. He said he could not discuss the allegations because of personnel reasons.

Dvorak, 36, could have been dismissed for personnel reasons regardless of whether or not the alleged inappropriate behavior was criminal in nature, Walker said.

There are 400 students at St. Vincent de Paul High School and Frontczak said it is under control and management of the St. Vincent de Paul parish, not the Santa Rosa Diocese.
