A Texas man filed suit today in Sacramento Superior Court against the Catholic Diocese of Sacramento, claiming he was sexually abused by a priest who has since fled to Mexico.

Hector Rubio, 33, a former altar boy, alleges that he was repeatedly molested by the Rev. Gerardo Beltran between 1983 and 1986 while the priest served at St. Dominic Parish in Orland in Glenn County.

Beltran served in the Sacramento diocese from 1982 to 1991. He disappeared in 1991. He has been charged with four counts of lewd or lascivious acts with a child under the age of 14, according an arrest warrant issued in 1992. He is reportedly serving as a priest in his hometown in a remote village in Mexico.
