(AP) Fort Collins, Colo. — A former Roman Catholic priest was convicted Monday of charges of sexually assaulting young parishioners.

Timothy Joseph Evans, 44, was convicted of sexual assault on a child by a person in a position of trust and sexual assault on a child with a pattern of abuse.

He showed no emotion as the verdict was read. He could face up to life in prison at his sentencing, scheduled in May.

Evans' attorney, Andy Gavaldon, and victims' family members declined to comment.

Evans faces trial in April on similar accusations in Jefferson County in a separate case.

He was removed from parish ministry at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton church in Fort Collins in 2002 and his priestly faculties were removed in 2003.
