Golden — A Jefferson County jury has gone home for the weekend without reaching a decision in the case of a former Roman Catholic priest charged with sexually assaulting a teenager.

It's the second trial for 44-year-old Timothy Joseph Evans in two separate cases.

Evans is accused of fondling a 16-year-old boy between 1995 and 1997 while he was assigned to a parish in Arvada. Evans is charged with sexual assault on a child by a person in a position of trust.

He was convicted in Fort Collins last month of sexually assaulting a young parishioner.

Evans is scheduled to be sentenced in that case in May.

He was removed from the priesthood in 2003.
