Cardinal Roger Mahony, head of the Archdiocese in Los Angeles, is known for his stance on immigration.

On Saturday he came to El Paso to take part in a mass and accept an award from immigrants rights group Annunciation House.

But in the midst of the mass...protesters standing quietly in the corner.

They represent victims abused by members of the Catholic Church.

They claim Mahony covered for priests who sexually abused children instead of turning them in.

They say it isn't fair that Mahony is getting an award when the Diocese he's in charge of faces allegations of more than 500 child molestation and cover up cases.

The Annunciation House says they were not looking at the Diocese as a whole, they just wanted to thank Mahony for his work on immigration reform.
