Hugh Fallon, one of five monks awaiting trial on charges of sexually abusing minors at a Blanco, TX monastery in the 1990s, has issued a disturbing report on the activities at the Christ of the Hills Monastery.

Fallon claims "its monks bilked worshipers, had sex with each other and used illegal drugs."

It should be noted that this group was long ago given the boot from ROCOR, the Orthodox jurisdiction with which they had been affiliated (and most Orthodox jurisdictions in turn, are not in communion with ROCOR).

Adding to their other sins, they committed this blasphemous act:

The account by the monk also called "Father Tihkon" also says the monastery's famed "weeping icon" — a painting of the Virgin Mary said to cry tears of myrrh — was a fraud perpetrated with oil applied with an eyedropper.

This disturbing report showcases the issues of lack of accountability in such rogue groups which claim Orthodox ties. The Faithful should beware — when communities are out of communion, it is generally with good reason.
