Chicago — Accused pedophile priest Dan McCormack was back in court this morning, but his case was continue until later this month because one of his lawyers is recovering from surgery.

WBBM's Bernie Tafoya reports.

In the meantime, another of the priest's lawyers says plea negotiations continue with prosecutors.

Attorney Robert Loeb would not comment further.

Fr. McCormack is accused of sexually molesting 11 and 12 year old boys at St. Agatha's Church on the West Side. Several of his family and friends were with him in court today.

Also there were members of Catholic reform groups, including the Coalition of Concerned Catholics, Voice of the Faithful and the Survivor's Network of Those Abused by Priests.

Sandra Stilling Seehausen of Voice of the Faithful believes, after talking with a lawyer for one of the alleged victims, that there will be justice and that the once-highly regarded priest will not get off "scot-free".

The Catholic reform groups say a plea would spare the alleged victims the trauma of testifying in court but they also believe it will keep hidden some of the specific ways the Archdiocese of Chicago botched the handling of allegations against the priest.

Barbara Blaine of the Survivor's Network of Those Abused by Priests says that will leave Cardinal George as "the biggest winner here".

Fr. Daniel McCormack is to next appear in court May 30th.
