Spokane -- A Spokane pastor accused of trying to kidnap a woman for sex continues to refuse to appear in court.

Herman Lewis has been in jail for a week and refuses to leave his jail cell. The 49-year-old is charged attempted rape after allegedly trying to drag a cook from a Shari's restaurant to his car. Authorities say he then tried to get away by ramming a Corvette into a police cruiser six times.

This is the third time Lewis has not made it to court. Lewis's lawyer has ordered a mental evaluation. His bond is set at $75,000, but can't bond out until he signs an agreement that he will not contact Amanda McKenna, the alleged victim, and will stay off the Shari's property where police say the incident occurred.

John Perry, Lewis's attorney, says he doubts his client is able to comprehend the restrictions in the agreement. Lewis's family claims he suffered a mental breakdown and was taken to the hospital the day before he was arrested.

If Lewis does not sign the no contact order, he will be forced into court on Tuesday.
