On 2/17/04, the Diocese of Rockville Centre reported that it knew of abuse accusations against 66 priests in the diocese since 1950. The names of only 44 accused priests and brothers have become public. In the table below, we list the 90 parishes and 14 other institutions where those publicly accused clerics worked—only a subset of the total number of accused priests and parishes at risk. In 1959, shortly after its founding, the diocese had 112 parishes. By 2002, the number had risen to 134. Using the larger number to calculate a percentage, this table shows that over 67% of parishes in the diocese had at least one accused priest working there at some time since 1950. One parish (St. James in Seaford) had seven accused priests. In another parish (St. Dominic's in Oyster Bay), 3 accused priests logged 41 non-overlapping years in the rectory. In total, nearly 1,000 person-years were logged by accused priests.
