A minister from Roxbury is being investigated by the Suffolk District Attorney for allegedly sexually abusing a juvenile three years ago, a state official said early today.

Denise Monteiro, spokeswoman for the state Department of Social Services, said the agency received a report in November, 2006, that the Rev. Larry Brown had allegedly molested a young man in 2004.

The DSS referred the matter to the district attorney, who could not be reached for comment early today. Monteiro said the district attorney's investigation remains active.

Because of the victim's age at the time of the alleged assaults, she said she could not identify him.

She said the DSS's special investigative unit has been monitoring Brown's contact with children. He has been associated with both the Mount Calvary Baptist Church in Roxbury and the Emmanuel Gospel Center in the South End, she said.

"We referred the case to the DA, and as a result, they opened an investigation," she said.
