A Kanawha County couple has sued an assistant youth pastor at a Chesapeake church for allegedly sexually molesting their daughter, according to a lawsuit filed last month in Kanawha Circuit Court.

The couple, identified only by their initials in the suit, claim that Timothy Charles Edmonds abused their daughter while he was acting as assistant youth pastor at the Chesapeake Apostolic Church.

The suit also names the church, the Upper Kanawha Valley Christian School, which is associated with the church, and pastor P.D. Priddy. Priddy is Edmonds' father-in-law, according to the suit.

The suit, which seeks unspecified compensatory and punitive damages, maintains that the church should have known that Edmonds was a sexual predator because of prior complaints of sexual abuse.
