Jury selection began today in the trial of a Baltimore County pastor accused of engaging in sexual acts with a teenage parishioner in Columbia hotels in 2004 and 2005.

Gerald Fitroy Griffith is on trial for a second time in Howard County Circuit Court. A mistrial was declared in March after the alleged victim, who is now 18 years old, gave testimony that included references to Baltimore County, where Griffith also faces charges.

Griffith, pastor and founder of Redemption Christian Fellowship Church on Dogwood Road in Woodlawn, was indicted by a Howard County grand jury in August on three counts of sexual abuse of a minor.

During jury selection today, more than a dozen potential jurors approached Judge Diane O. Leasure and asked to be excused after learning of the charges against Griffith.
