(May 23, 2007) — A Roman Catholic priest who admitted possessing child pornography was found today to be a low-level sex offender.

Monroe County Court Judge Frank P. Geraci Jr. ruled that the Rev. Michael Volino, 42, is a Level 1 offender, considered to be the lowest of three risk levels on New York's Sex Offender Registry.

Volino spent one year in prison after pleading guilty in May 2005 to having more than three images of child pornography on a computer. There were no allegations that Volino had any actual contact with children, however.

Volino, who was ordained in 1992, was a priest at St. John the Evangelist Church in Greece. He is on administrative leave from the Diocese of Rochester.
