Chicago - At least one parent isn't buying the Archdiocese of Chicago's explanation that a Roman Catholic school principal was fired for her performance.

Rufus Sims says Barbara Westrick lost her job because she criticized the archdiocese for its handling of sexual abuse allegations against the school's former parish priest. Sims has four kids enrolled at Our Lady of the Westside. He says they love Westrick because she's fair and treats students like they are her own children.

Westrick has accused the archdiocese of trying to make her a scapegoat for its reaction to accusations against the Reverend Daniel McCormack, who is charged with criminal sexual abuse. She lost her job yesterday.

Archdiocese spokeswoman Colleen Dolan says Westrick was fired because of her performance. She says it had nothing to do with history.
