  New Information: Minister Charged with Sex Crimes

The Court Documents Say the Victims in the Case Are Two Boys. One Was 13-Years-Old. the Other Was 15-Years-Old. the Abuse Allegedly Began in 2004 and Continued until May 2007.

Winston-Salem, NC — Rodney Boothe, a former minister from Winston-Salem, was scheduled appear in court at 2:00 pm Monday. However, the appearance may be postponed until Tuesday.

Police arrested Boothe Friday afternoon in Raleigh.

He spent the weekend in the Forsyth County jail on a $10-million bond.

Boothe faces 12 counts of statutory rape, six counts of sexual offense, four counts of taking indecent liberites with a child, one count attempted first degree sex offense and one count of third degree sexual exploitation of a child. Police say the he committed crimes against members of his congregation. According to court documents, Boothe was affiliated with the Greater Church of Deliverance on North Cherry Street in Winston-Salem. A church spokesperson denied Boothe has any current position with the church.

The court documents say the victims in the case are two boys. One was 13-years-old. The other was 15-years-old. The abuse allegedly began in 2004 and continued until May 2007. The court records say a relative of one victim found a suspicious image and alerted police.

Boothe has also been charged with passing worthless checks in New Hanover County six times between 1999 and 2003.
