A 74-year-old man who authorities believe molested young boys for five decades was convicted Friday in Denver of sexually assaulting three victims.

The three were sexually assaulted repeatedly between 1997 and 2002.

One of the victims was 6 years old when Donald George Shissler first assaulted him. Shissler was found guilty on six counts of sexual assault on a child; six counts of sexual assault on a child by a person in a position of trust; two counts of sexual assault on a child - pattern of abuse, and one count of sexual exploitation of a child.

For a short time 40 years ago, Shissler was an Episcopal priest in Aspen. He was a foster parent between 1985 and 1992 in Denver, but his license was revoked after he repeatedly was caught dressing inappropriately.

Denver prosecutors believe that over a 50-year period, Shissler molested many young boys who were lured to his Denver home by promises of candy bars, games, a hot tub, a computer and television.

In a 2002 interview with The Denver Post, Shissler denied the allegations and said he had too much love for children to do anything sexual with them.
