Los Angeles, California (AHN) - In what could be the largest payout in the Catholic Church's sexual abuse scandal, the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Los Angeles will settle its sexual abuse case for at least $600 million.

The deal is set to be announced on Monday, the day that more than 500 clergy abuse cases was scheduled for jury selection, according to two individuals who have prior knowledge of the agreement and spoke anonymously because the settlement had not been made public.

According to the sources, the church will pay between $600 million and $650 million to the 500 plaintiffs, breaking down to an average of $1.2 to $1.3 million per individual. The release of confidential priest personnel files is also a part of the settlement.
