New Lexington — A Lancaster man was arrested on five counts of gross sexual imposition Friday and is incarcerated at the Southeastern Ohio Regional Jail in Nelsonville waiting to make his first appearance in a Perry County court Tuesday morning.

Timmy S. Keil, 43, was a counselor at the Scioto Youth Camp in Junction City when the Perry County Sheriff's Office received a report on July 19 that an alleged sexual abuse had taken place with one of the young campers.

Lt. Paul Drake said Keil, who volunteers at the camp, was questioned regarding the incident and denied any wrongdoing.

Keil was released at that time, but Drake persisted in his investigation and learned there wasn't one victim, but seven.

On Saturday, Drake said he is expecting more victims and more charges.

"It's unfortunate that people can't send their kids to church camp as a safe haven when someone at that camp is preying on them," Drake said.

The boys at the cabin where Keil was volunteering were all between the ages of 8 and 10, and Keil was in charge of 13 of them.

Drake said the boys had been at the camp since July 15, and that it was to conclude on Saturday.

Keil has been in the Ohio area for 14 years and has volunteered at various church camps throughout the state. He is married and has six children of his own, who are still at the home with his wife, Drake said. The Fairfield County Children's Services Unit will also conduct an investigate, Drake added.

Keil also has a Web site on My Space where he says he enjoys flower gardening, music, creative writing, Bible study, parenting and teaching. He also states on the Web site that he loves dramas and tearjerker movies, and television shows like CSI and The Amazing Race.

Drake said Keil lists his occupation as a professor with the Circleville Bible College, stating he makes between $60,000 and $70,000 a year.

No one from the college was available for comment Saturday evening.

Keil was convicted of corruption of minors in Pennsylvania in 1990, according to Drake. He received four years of probation.

Keil is being held at the jail without bond, according to jail records.
