He admits trying to entice a teenage boy to make a video of sexual acts and bondage

North Carolina — The former pastor of a High Point church pleaded guilty yesterday to charges that he tried to get a teenage boy in his congregation to make a video of bondage and sex acts.
Todd Turner Brock, 42, admitted sending Internet-chat messages to the 17-year-old, who lives in Kernersville, about a video in which Brock would pretend to use chloroform to knock the boy out, then tie him up, paint his nails and put Goth-style makeup on him.
Brock admitted to charges of solicitation to commit first-degree sexual exploitation of a minor, participating in the prostitution of a minor, and disseminating obscenity. Under the charges that Brock faced, anyone under 18 is considered a minor.
Judge Henry E. Frye Jr. of Superior Court sentenced him to 10 to 12 months in prison, a term that Brockfs attorney, David Freedman, and Katie Kayser, the assistant district attorney, had agreed to as part of a plea deal.

Brock resigned from Tabernacle Baptist Church on March 30 after Kernersville police arrested him. He had been a pastor there for 17 years.
He never posted bond, so the three months that he has spent in the Forsyth County Jail leave him with seven to nine months in prison.
Brock did not speak to the court. He gazed straight ahead during most of the hearing and did not look at the boyfs mother, who was there. About 25 friends and family members came to support Brock.
When Frye asked him if whether he was guilty of the charge, Brock answered quietly that he was.
The boyfs mother said that Brock gabused his power and position to target my son for sexual abuse.h
She said that her son is now a soldier stationed at a military base in Georgia and is trying to get on with his life.
gI canft explain to you the anger my son still has,h she said.
Freedman said that investigators never found any evidence that Brock had touched the boy.
gIt doesnft necessarily make it any better,h he said.
The case began in March, after the boy sought Brockfs help about questioning his faith after a friend died of cancer, according to a search warrant in the case.
Brock began asking the teenager about his sexuality, then about making the movie, Kayser said.
The idea evolved into a tale of a gclean-cut guyh transforming into a Goth, then engaging in bondage, Kayser said. Brock had asked the teenager to have sex with him in the video and to have a third man, a 20-year-old from Virginia, join them.
The 20-year-old told police that he had begun talking to Brock as he struggled with his faith and being gay. As part of the plea deal, a charge connected to Brockfs conversations with the 20-year-old was dismissed.
The 17-year-old and his mother left the church, in part because of hostility from some of its members in the wake of the charges, the mother said.
She said that she now has trouble trusting preachers.
