Australia — A former priest who committed three acts of indecency while teaching at a Sydney Catholic girls' school has received an 18-month suspended jail term.

Michael Slattery, 60, who now lives in Western Australia, pleaded guilty in Sydney's Downing Centre District Court to the three offences, which occurred when he was a lay teacher in the early 1980s.

Judge Gregory Woods has imposed an 18-month suspended jail term.

Slattery was stood down from his duties as a priest in 2005.
