Waterbury - A Roman Catholic priest from Naugatuck accused of sexually assaulting a 15-year-old boy did not enter a plea this morning in Superior Court in Waterbury.

The Rev. Robert J. Grant, 63, appeared briefly before Judge Joan Alexander. His case was transferred to Part A, where he is scheduled to appear Sept. 12.

Grant, who has been relieved of his duties overseeing two Naugatuck parishes, St. Hedwig and St. Mary's, is free on $200,000 bail. The Hartford Archdiocese placed Grant on administrative leave shortly after he was released on $200,000 bail Aug. 2. He is charged with second-degree sexual assault and risk of injury to a minor.

While on administrative leave, Grant is not allowed to function as a priest or live in the rectory, a diocese spokesman said.
