Cedar Rapids, Iowa — A federal bankruptcy judge has given the Roman Catholic Diocese of Davenport more time to file its reorganization plan.

The diocese filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy last fall in the wake of claims of sexual abuse by priests. A total of 156 claims have been filed in the case.

A reorganization plan was originally due by August 15th. A judge has now approved a request to extend the deadline to October 1st and that the plan be approved by November 30th.

The diocese and a creditors committee filed a joint motion earlier this month seeking the extension.
