A Louisa County priest accused of embezzling hundreds of thousands of dollars from two local churches is scheduled to be arraigned in federal court today in Richmond.

Father Rodney Rodis was indicted two weeks ago on federal embezzling charges. Rodis had been facing local charges in Louisa since January.

Rodis served as the pastor at St. Jude Catholic in Mineral and Immaculate Conception Catholic in Bumpass before his retirement in 2006.

Since his arrest, the Rodis case has taken a number of twists and turns. Court documents showed in February that Rodis lived with a wife named Joyce and their three children, though the priest's lawyer maintained Rodis was not married. In May, a judge revoked his bond after Rodis left the state for two weeks in April.

Last month, charges were filed in the U.S. District Court in Richmond, where Rodis is expected to appear today. Stay with 8News for updates.
