DENVER—An Episcopal church court has affirmed its preliminary ruling that the leader of a breakaway church in Colorado Springs is guilty of financial misconduct.

The Rev. Donald Armstrong of Colorado Springs.

The court also defrocked the Reverend Donald Armstrong.

The ruling was made last week and released on Monday.

Armstrong was rector of Grace Church and St. Stephen's Parish and is now a member of a conservative Anglican diocese.

He was accused by the Diocese of Colorado of having the church pay him more than $392,000 without authorization. The diocese also alleged that Grace Church failed to report about $548,000 in non-salary income to the IRS, including the personal expenses.

Armstrong has denied the charges. His attorney, Dennis Harley, said the judgment is not final until October 15th and he would not comment till then.
