GALLUP, N.M. — Police in Gallup have produced a report from Thursday's call to the home of Catholic Bishop Donald Pelotte.

It shows the bishop told police he believed four people, only 3 to 5 feet tall and wearing masks, broke into his house.

Officers found nothing.

The diocese said the bishop, who is still recovering from a head injury he suffered in July, remains in touch with staff from his home.

"The bishop is still the bishop. As bishop of the Diocese of Gallup, he is fully in charge of the Diocese of Gallup. That's really where we stand. The diocese continues to function, will continue to function, and we just hope that the bishop will continue to recover," said diocese spokesman Matt Doyle.

Pelotte has no public duties in the immediate future.
