TAIPEI—Taiwanese prosecutors have indicted a pastor for sexually abusing 13 women in his congregation and are seeking a 15-year prison term for the man who has a prior conviction for molestation, a report said Saturday.

Tang Tai-shen, 58, was Friday indicted for allegedly sexually assaulting the women under the pretext of offering sex counselling and videotaping the sessions, the Apple Daily News said.

Eight female staffers, including Tang's daughter-in-law, in charge of recruiting followers for Tang's movement were also indicted for molesting the women, the report said.

The pastor was arrested in June when the sex scandal erupted and has been detained since. He faces a maximum 10-year jail term if convicted of rape and a maximum five years if found guilty of molestation.

In 1999 Tang was convicted of molesting a female follower and was sentenced to three years and two months in prison in a case that shocked Taiwan's religious circle.

He was released in 2005 after serving the full jail term.
