A local pastor accused of fathering the child of a 13-year-old member of his congregation has been formally indicted by a Bowie County grand jury for aggravated sexual assault of a child.

Willie Fay Arnold, 60, of Texarkana, Texas, is accused of sexually assaulting the girl in the home of her grandmother in Texarkana, Texas. The assaults happened when no others were in the home on at least three separate occasions, court documents say. The girl reported the incident in March 2006 to the director of a local pregnancy center, according to an arrest affidavit.

It is unclear whether Arnold is still pastor of a Church of God in Christ congregation in Queen City.

Investigators say the victim told police and an interviewer at the Child Advocacy Center she had feared telling about the assaults because of Arnold's position in the church and his relationship with her family.

An officer with the Texarkana, Texas, Police Department contacted Arnold at his home on Oct. 10, 2006, documents say. Arnold agreed to give police a sample of his saliva for DNA testing purposes and signed necessary consent forms.
