MIAMI — The archdiocese of Miami faced yet another sexual abuse lawsuit on Tuesday when a teacher was accused of a sex crime.

A woman claimed a teacher sexually assaulted her while she was a student at Monsignor Pace High School in the 1970s.

According to the lawsuit, the teacher was Mary Deming, who now works in Georgia.

The alleged victim claimed she told school officials about the abuse, but nothing was done.

"The abuse went on for a period of years," plaintiff lawyer Jeffrey Herman said. "The allegations of the complaint are that this girl reached out for help to several priests with the archdiocese of Miami who worked at the high school, and that all three of these priests concealed it, told her to keep it quiet and failed to help this girl at all."

The archdiocese has released a statement denying it was aware of the abuse.
